St Ives Brewery is teaming up with Little Gem Catering, of Hayle, for a two-night dining event centred around beef.

Hops & Heffers is billed as a barbecue beef feast and will be staged at the Brewhouse Cafe, next to Trenwith car park, on Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24.

Little Gem’s head chef, Ryan Venning, formerly in charge of the Porthminster Beach Cafe kitchen, is creating a menu based around Devon Ruby Red beef, from nearby Trenowin Farm.

Dishes will include shaved fillet as a starter, smoked sticky brisket and hanger steak with bone marrow butter as mains, with sides such as braised ox cheek and horseradish ‘slaw’.

Even the dessert is barbecued, with Durban-style pineapple on a stick.
