Smooth Movers Surf Festival

We are super proud to be sponsoring the 2023 Smooth Movers surf event here in St Ives Bay. It’s a truly unique and special event in the UK surf scene, with a community focus and laid-back approach to competition. It celebrates more alterative surf craft and embodies the spirit of more traditional surfing. The event is a real spectacle and is accompanied with evening entertainment courtesy of ourselves and Algorhythm.sw - throwing a party for both competitors and avid surf fans. Come and enjoy this heady combination from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th September.

Across the three days you can expect to enjoy art, film, music, surfing and great beer courtesy of our growing brewery in Cornwall.

Thursday is the opening of the event, and a day that won’t feature surfing. It will be somewhat of an aperitif to whet the appetite for the wave riding to come. There will be art exhibitions, surf films and live music to enjoy in our taproom for everyone to enjoy.

On Friday the surfing begins. Expect fishes and logs, hang tens and soul arches and some decent competition between some of the finest longboarders and surfers around. In the evening you’ll find music and beer at the brewery, as part of our usual taproom shenanigans. Surfing will feature both men’s and women’s events.

The weekend and Saturday brings the competitive heat as the competition progresses. You’ll be wanting to ensure you have a tidy spot on the beach to soak up the surfing and see who takes home the prizes. Once that is done then you can shuffle back to the brewery for a great big party in partnership with Algorhythm.sw. Smooth Movers is a celebration of grassroots surfing, a real nod to the importance of bringing people together, having a good time and enjoying the spirit of wave riding.
